electric-picnicAfter having a really, really amazing time at a festival called ‘Electric Picnic’ at the weekend, I am finding normal life grim!

People are not laughing and smiling and dressing up in crazy clothes and having fun in my neighbourhood.  There isn’t a sense of joy and excitement in the air and I miss the lovely feeling of wandering around bumping into friends and living in a sort of village where almost everyone is friendly.  I asked the angels for some help with post festival blues!

This is what they said.

We sense that even as you say that you miss all of these feelings and experiences that you enjoyed at the festival, there is a part of you who is firmly convinced that ‘real’ life is not a festival, that real life is not festive and that this is how it is supposed to be.

You say that you feel blue when you find yourself back in ‘normal life.  We would ask you if this is how you would like your life to be?  Or if you would like to experiment a little with having a more festive life?

Me

Well of course i would like my real life to be more festive!  But as you say, that is not how real life generally is.  We only get festive on occasion, and the rest of the time we get on with it.frustration 1

Supposing there were a way in which you could add all of these elements that you describe to your everyday life?  Would that interest you?

Me

Yes it would!

A

You speak of a sense of fun, a sense of excitement.  We can suggest ways in which this sense of fun and excitement can become a part of your everyday experience if you wish it.  Pause for a moment and consider what you have already envisioned for your day, today?Image

Me

I hope to finish an article that I am supposed to have finished and send it off.  And I hope to get some other necessary stuff done around the house.  Nothing very fun or exciting!

A

How do you feel, when you think about the day ahead?

Me

I don’t know.  I feel a bit sad that it isn’t more exciting and I feel slightly anxious because i don’t know if I will get everything done and if it will be difficult to do.

A

When you think of these things, how does it feel inside your body?

Me

A bit tight in my chest and a bit tight in my solar plexus and I am clenching my jaws!

A

We understand!

Just for a moment, could you bring all of your attention to these parts of you and to these feelings?  As you do so, can you imagine that we are bringing lightness and joy and excitement and colour to them?  Can you imagine that we are transforming the energy of these feelings into something that feels better?Electric-Picnic-cover

Me

Okay, I will try to do that.

A

There is no need to try to do it, it will happen if you decide to do it!

Me

Ok

A

Have you noticed anything different?

Me

I feel a bit  lighter.  Less anxious and  not sad.

A

You can magnetise experiences that match the feelings that you have described as being enjoyable, by practising having those experiences and those feelings in your own mind.  You do this by simply day dreaming and pretending that you are having these feelings!  Your imagination is extremely powerful, far more powerful than you yet realise, and as yet you have very little idea of what you can do with this tool!  You may have noticed that children play with their imaginations a great deal, and spend much of their time pretending themselves to be having experiences that they enjoy.  When you can remember to access and use this tool, you will notice that you can have many experiences of play and excitement and spontaneity and joy and that you can also ‘play’ with other adults as you go about your day.  You may find yourself drawn to spending more time with other people who are also drawn to having a ‘festive’ life and you may feel less attracted to people who prefer to keep their noses to the grindstone, as it were.  If you follow your instinct and seek out like minded souls, you will find it easier and easier to re-create that festival experience in your everyday life!Electric-Picnic-cover
